Clerk suspended at Changanassery Sub R.T.O. for creating departmental credentials for tax payments
A clerk at the Changanassery Sub R.T.O. was suspended after it was found that departmental user credentials were created for paying taxes on vehicles whose Motor Labour Welfare Fund contributions were not paid. The suspension was issued to G. James Fernandez, who was suspended from service. The action followed the request from the Traffic Commissioner, Nagaraju Chakilam, to investigate the role of officials and financial transactions in the welfare fund scam of the Motor Vehicles Department. Credentials were found to be created for 284 vehicles between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, for which 199 belonged to vehicles under the Changanassery Sub R.T.O. and one to a vehicle under the Kollam R.T.O. The order stated that credentials were created even when owners could pay taxes directly for vehicles not registered with the Welfare Fund Board and for vehicles that had paid contributions.
