Dalit youth allegedly brutally assaulted in police custody in Kottayam

A complaint has been filed alleging that a Dalit youth was brutally assaulted while in police custody in Kottayam. The victim, P. R. Abhilash, a resident of Poonjar Perimalam, was allegedly taken into custody yesterday on charges of stealing an electricity cable. The complaint states that the police allegedly assaulted him in a private vehicle while transporting him to the station, and released him after reaching the station. Abhilash is currently receiving treatment at Kottayam Medical College. A complaint has been lodged with the Pala D.S.P.
