Heavy rain continues in Kottayam district's eastern region; water levels rise in rivers

Heavy rain continues in the hilly areas of Kottayam district. The rain started around 3 PM. Due to a landslide on the Vagamon-Erattupetta route, there is a minor traffic disruption. The water level is rising in the Meenachil River. Authorities also suspect a landslide at Karikad Top, though it is not a residential area. Orange alert has been declared for Kottayam and Idukki districts for the next three hours.
