Heavy rain expected across the state; educational institutions closed in Palakkad, fishing banned

The central weather department has predicted the possibility of heavy rain across the state today. Orange alerts have been declared in Palakkad, Malappuram, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta districts. The department also announced the possibility of lightning-accompanied rain and strong winds up to 30-40 km/h in various places today and tomorrow. Due to the possibility of strong winds, fishing is banned off the Kerala-Lakshadweep coast.
