Kerala demands extension of deadline for 7th ESA draft notification, citing mapping uncertainties

Kerala is demanding an extension of the deadline for submitting comments on the 7th Eco-Sensitive Area (ESA) draft notification released by the central government. The state has submitted a report to the central Ministry of Environment, requesting the exclusion of 33 villages from the list. The state also demands that the four villages in Kottayam district and more than half of the 51 villages in Idukki district be completely excluded.
