RTO launches strict inspections of private and school buses in Kottayam following increase in accidents

Following the increase in vehicle accidents in the district, the Kottayam RTO initiated vehicle inspections. The inspections primarily check if vehicles are running at excessive speed and if the service is safe on the road using GPS systems. Officials stated that these inspections, led by Joint RTOs, will continue strictly in the coming days. The decision to make a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) mandatory for private bus staff in Kottayam was also taken by the police, citing the increasing accidents and continuous complaints regarding staff misconduct.
