Woman arrested in Kottayam for allegedly cheating and stealing money using forged checks

Police arrested Jyothi Krishna, a resident of Mundakayam Punjavayal, for allegedly cheating and stealing money from a woman at a bank in Kottayam. The accused had impersonated a police official and an Income Tax Superintendent, claiming to help fill out checks. She allegedly stole ₹1,74,000 from a resident of Mundakayam Chelikkuzhi after convincing her to hand over a check. The accused was arrested by the Mundakayam police following an investigation prompted by the complaint.
