Vaikom CI suspended over alleged bribe collection

Vigilance found that CI Vaikom Shamirkhan was suspended after being found accepting bribes using an account belonging to an Assam resident. The investigation revealed that Shamirkhan allegedly collected ₹2.28 lakh in bribes over a month, using a SIM card registered to the resident at the Vaikom Kanara Bank branch. Following the seizure of his phone and ATM card last Friday, he entered mandatory leave.
