Demand grows to modernize state water transport boats following Kochi Metro model

The demand is growing to modernize the state water transport department's passenger boat services, following the successful model of the Kochi Water Metro. Most of the boats currently operating in water bodies like Kuttanad are aged and are the primary means of transport for local passengers. Many of these boats are over 20 years old, frequently experiencing technical failures and service disruptions. The aging boats, built of wood and old iron, pose significant safety risks due to 'water leaks' and are causing inconvenience to passengers with noise pollution and poor air circulation.
