Residents demand reconsideration of Meenachil River Valley Project after RTI reveals Adukkathu Dam was not abandoned

According to an RTI response received by public activist Ponthanal Sheriff, the Meenachil River Valley Project, including the Adukkathu Dam, has not been abandoned. The project, which was initially laid out in 1984 by Chief Minister K. Karunakaran, aims to solve recurring floods and severe water shortages in the Meenachil area. Residents are demanding that the project be reconsidered and implemented, citing its potential to mitigate flood damage and water scarcity in the Kottayam district.
