Youth sentenced to 90 days imprisonment for failing to pay compensation for accident injuries

The Kottayam M.A.C.T. Tribunal sentenced a youth to 90 days imprisonment for failing to pay compensation for injuries sustained in a motor accident. The accident occurred on November 11, 2019, on the Vaikom Muriyan Kulamkara Road. The youth, who was 17 at the time of the accident, hit a senior citizen and a two-and-a-half-year-old grandchild with a scooter. The Tribunal had ordered compensation of three and a half lakh rupees for the senior citizen and one lakh rupees for the child in January 2025.
